Robert was born in Petaluma, California on August 8, 1918. A native of Petaluma and a longtime resident, he died Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at his home. He was 96.
Growing up, Bob attended a one room schoolhouse, grades 1-8, at Laguna Joint Elementary and then attended Petaluma high School where he graduated in 1938. He excelled in mechanics and was often taken out of class to help repair school buses.
He later worked at Five point's service station; Nye & Nissen egg dealers and then in 1941 went to work on submarines at Mare island in Vallejo, CA. He was only there a few months before being drafted into the U.S. Army. Following basic training in Texas, Bob was then sent to Europe during World War II. Once back, Bob was hired as a mechanic at Poultry Producers of Central California. He maintained a fleet of trucks sometimes working 12 to 14 hour shifts. In 1946, Bob married the love of his life, Rena Dinucci of San Francisco. His loving children and their spouses are Robert (Bobbie) Plummer of Ashland, OR, David (Candy) Plummer of Herald, CA and Alan (Jacqui Jennings) Plummer of Walnut Creek, CA. He was a doting and most dearly loved "Grandpa Bob" to Bonnie (Michael) Perotti of Scottsdale, AZ and their children Justin, Kaitlyn and Emily; Mark (Elena) Plummer of Salcha, AK; Karen Plummer and daughter Maya of Rocklin, CA; Brian (Melissa) Plummer of Santa Rosa, CA and their children Michael and Elizabeth. And he was the loving uncle to his nephew Wayne Van Patten of Petaluma. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Rena (Lillian Dinucci) Plummer, and his sister, Marjorie Carter.
A funeral service will be held, Friday, December 12, 2014 at 11:00 am at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma, CA. Viewing prior to the service. Reception to follow.
