Robert Attilio Ratto (Bob) passed away peacefully on April 2, 2021, in Santa Rosa, at the age of 92.
Bob was born February 1, 1929 in Santa Rosa, California to parents Ida (Gilardoni) and Henry Ratto. His early years were spent with family, farming hops on land that is now part of Annadel State Park.
A graduate of Santa Rosa High, Bob enjoyed decades long dear friendships with several friends from his school days.
After service in the Navy during the Korean War, Bob returned to his skilled trade as a Tile Setter, applying his craftsmanship in Sonoma and Marin Counties for more than 40 years. An avid steel head fisherman and duck hunter for many years, he greatly enjoyed waterfowl and wildlife art collecting in later years. His gardening interest led him to “adopt” his neighborhood Sequoia School’s garden, where he contributed many volunteer hours tending and tidying garden beds.
Bob is survived by his wife of 71 years, Julia, of Santa Rosa, daughters Barbara and Beverly, sons-in-law Jeff and Tim, granddaughters Stephanie and Julie and their husbands, Oliver Wadsworth and Patrick Rawlins, Jr.
At Bob’s request, no services will be held. Anyone wishing to make a contribution in Bob’s memory might consider Santa Rosa High School Foundation or your favorite charity.
