Passed away at his Petaluma home on 29 January 2018 at the age of 89. He was born in San Francisco in 1928 to Frank Hall and Lenora Amanda (Aguila) Pinelli. Raised Santa Cruz, CA, he attended San Jose State University briefly before being inducted into the Army in 1950 during the Korean War. He served in Germany for eighteen months with the 4th Division Field Artillery and was honorably discharged in 1952. After his military service he found employment as an architectural draftsman, which ultimately led to a 20-year career as a city and regional planner and the completion of his undergraduate degree in Economics. He served as a planner for Monterey County, and later, the planning director of Mendocino County, and the City of Petaluma, CA. He spent the final 10 years of his career working as a Civil Engineer at the Presidio of San Francisco, retiring in 1994. In 1969 he married Celeste (Bettale) Hall and moved to Petaluma, CA in 1976 where he resided for the rest of his life. He is survived by his wife, his brother Raymond Anderson, his son Patrick (Hall) Bettale, and his grandchildren Siena and Gabriel Bettale. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Robert “Bob” Hall and Richard “Snookie” Anderson. Ron was an athlete from an early age, and he participated in multi-national competitions in pole vaulting and track-and-field while serving in the army. He later became passionate about his artwork and continuously developed his skill as a watercolorist producing many visually stunning paintings over several decades. An avid fly fisherman, he loved spending time fly tying and casting from a riverbank seeking trophy salmon, and trout. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. A rosary will be held at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. Private inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Morgan, CO.
