Ronald Charles Smith passed away peacefully in Sonoma County on 12.12.21 after a brief but valiant battle with brain cancer. He is survived by his daughter (Robin), grandson (Peyton), two brothers (Richard & Johnny) and two sisters (Joanne & Diane) all of whom were able to support him in his final months with loving visits and calls. Taken from this earth far too soon, his joyous spirit and laughter will live forever in our hearts and memories.
Ron was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He lived a serene yet industrious life on his Humboldt County farm since 1978, tending to the land and lush gardens often with only the assistance of his beloved cat Mira. While away from his land and out in the world he was a joy to all he met, befriending many and notoriously sparking interesting conversations. He enjoyed watching sports, skiing, surfing, hot springing and traveling with his daughter whom he frequently shared one of his famous rum cocktails with.
Dad, how lucky I have been to have loved you so deeply and have had you as a father which is why saying goodbye is so hard…
“My feet will want to walk to where you are sleeping but I shall go on living.”- Pablo Neruda.
God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. – Revelation 21:4
