Rose Marie Katen

December 20, 1939 — March 18, 2017

Rose Marie Katen passed away on March 18, 2017 in Petaluma, CA at the age of 77. Devoted wife of 57 years to George Katen. Cherished mother of Scott Katen (Cheri), Diane Rowley (Cliff), and Debbie Mendes (Jeff). Beloved grandmother of Dale and Jay Katen; Garret and Clarissa Rowley; and Deanna and Jessica Mendes. Loving sister of Don and Suzi Barella and the late Richard Barella. Rose is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Rose was born in Petaluma and graduated from Petaluma High School. She married George, her high school sweetheart and raised their family in Petaluma. Rose was very active in her children's lives, involving herself with all their activities. Later, she worked for the Petaluma School District for 20 years at Grant Elementary School. When her grandchildren came along, Rose made sure to be just as present in their lives as she was in her own children's by spending quality time with them. Rose was an active member of the Petaluma Woman's Club, enjoyed traveling, socializing with her many friends, and playing bunco and the harmonica. Rose was a wonderful woman; she will be greatly missed. Friends and Family are invited to attend the Memorial Service on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma, with a Celebration of Life from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Rooster Run Golf Club, 2301 E. Washington St., Petaluma. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Petaluma. Private Inurnment. Memorial Service
