Rosemarie Santarini Holewinski

June 25, 1931 — April 10, 2017

Rosemarie Santarini Holewinski, age 85, of Healdsburg, passed away peacefully, after a long illness. Born in Healdsburg to Ray and Juliette Santarini of Santa Rosa, Rosemarie attended Ursuline High School, graduating in 1949. She completed a bachelor's in 1953 at Catholic University, where she met her husband of 59 years, Peter Holewinski, Jr. The couple returned to California in 1956, settling in Salinas, raised their family of four and worked in their respective careers. Rosemarie taught grades 7-9 at Palma School for 20+ years. Peter practiced architecture at his firm, then known as Holewinski & Blevens. On retirement, they relocated to Healdsburg in 2006 to build the home of their dreams. That home was a beloved space for Rosemarie, set on the Alexander Valley hillside property ("El Rancho Santarini") purchased in the early 1900s by her great-grandfather Luigi Santarini, an immigrant from Tuscany, Italy. Rosemarie is preceded in death by her husband, Peter Holewinski and her brother, Ray Santarini. She is survived by her son, Peter (Mary-Frances) of Healdsburg, Mark (Ruth) of Minneapolis, Lisa (Rob) Steamboat Springs, and Greg of Dallas, as well as five grandchildren; Aron of New York City, Devin and Julia of Madison, James of Dallas and Anna of Minneapolis, her brother, Romie (Inger) Santarini of Fortuna and six nephews and nieces. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to her group of "Sunday Coffee" friends who showed such loving support throughout recent years. Family and friends are invited to attend a Rosary Vigil Service at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Healdsburg on Friday April 28th at 7:30 p.m.; a Funeral Mass will be said at St. John's on Saturday April 29th at 11:00 a.m. and inurnment will follow at Beeson Cemetery in Alexander Valley. Rosemarie was a beloved wife and mother -- full of life, stories, memories and spunk. Her spirit, love for family and the ranch will not be forgotten. Vigil Service
