Roy Edwin Stock

April 26, 1930 — September 24, 2013

Passed away Sept 24 surrounded by his family. Roy was born in Los Angeles on April 26, 1930 to Walter and Emily (Arnold) Stock. He was the oldest of 5 children. At the age of 17 he joined the Navy and was assigned to the USS Benner, a destroyer. Roy saw a lot of the world while in the Navy and said that stopping at ports along the Mediterranean was great because WW II had just ended and everyone loved American servicemen. Upon his return to civilian life Roy met the love of his life, Joanne Peters. After a very short romance they eloped to Las Vegas and were married on March 1, 1952. They settled in Petaluma and raised their three children. After his retirement from the teamster's, Roy and Joanne moved to their dream house in Redwood Valley where they lived for many years. They moved to Windsor in early 2000 to be closer to family. In 2005 after 53 years of marriage Roy lost the love of his life Joanne. Roy had moved back to Petaluma just a month prior to his death. Roy is survived by son Clifford (Marcie) Stock, daughter Diane (Dave) Wilson and son Jim Stock. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren Eric, Andrea, Jeff, Justin, Heather, Jeannette, Jonathon; and 6 great-grandchildren. He also is survived by his furry son Snuffy Jr., a miniature Schnauzer who was his constant companion for the past 5 years. Roy loved 49er football and NASCAR. All was right in the world when there was a game or race on. He enjoyed taking his grandkids and dogs out fishing on Lake Mendocino. Roy was a volunteer at Kaiser Permanente and he really enjoyed helping new moms and their babies at discharge. He became quite the expert at car seats. Roy made several good friends while volunteering. A celebration of Roy's life is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Hospice by the Bay or the Petaluma Animal Shelter.
