Ruben F. Hernandez

Ruben F. Hernandez - Born December 5, 1932 in Presidio, TX and passed away on January 16, 2012 in Windsor after a four year illness. Devoted husband of 60 years to Zulema Hernandez of Windsor. Cherished father of Irene Luna (Jim) and Hector Hernandez all of Windsor; Fred Hernandez (Lisa) of Burney, CA; and Rick Hernandez (Martha) of Windsor. Beloved grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of 14. Loving brother of Hortencia Gonzalez of Van Horn, TX; Arturo Hernandez of Ontario; Santiago Hernandez of Odessa, TX; Elpedia Cortez (Jesus) of Ontario; Frances Sanchez (Daniel) of Ft. Stockton, TX; Danny Hernandez of Ontario; and the late Basilisa Barriga and Elia Inojos. Predeceased by his parents, Lilia and Natividad Hernandez. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Age: 79 years. Ruben worked in a lumber mill and construction for 39 years, retiring in 1994. Ruben was a good and loyal friend to many, and managed to bring a positive light to many a difficult situation. In his younger years he was President of the Latin American Club, bringing the Hispanic community in Healdsburg together for dances, fundraisers, and other events, and was well-respected by his peers. Ruben also served as a second father to both his daughters and sons-in-law, who cherished his advice, conversations and special moments with him. Ruben Hernandez will be dearly missed.
