Heaven gained an angel when Ruth Margaret Ferrara Brown
left this earth on May 5. Surrounded by her children, Mike and Janette Brown, Kat Myers, and Rosemarie Brown, Ruth passed away after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke. Born on April 24, 1921, Ruth lived most of her life in Petaluma. She held many jobs during her lifetime, including waitress at Swenson's. Summers found her picking vegetables at the Cuneo ranch. She provided in-home care for Mrs. Sobranes, was an expert seamstress, and a much-loved employee at Petaluma Art Supply. Her full-time job, and what brought her the greatest joy, was being a wife, homemaker, and mother. She married local boy Russell Brown in 1943. At Russell's death, they had been married almost 56 years. The Browns raised their three children in their Wilson Street home. Ruth continued to live there until last Fall. A woman of faith, she was a devout member of St. Vincent de Paul Church. In addition to her children, two remaining sisters, cousins, and many nieces and nephews, she is survived by her grandchildren, Cynthia Boyd, Nick Rogers, and Juliana Smith. Family and friends are invited to attend a Rosary on Thursday May 12 at 7 pm at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY and a Funeral Mass on Friday May 13 at 10:30 am at St. Vincent de Paul Church, both in Petaluma.
