RUTH ANN REDFERN

November 11, 1939 – August 5, 2024

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, aunt passed away August 5, 2024, at the age of 84 surrounded by family. Ruth was born November 11, 1939, in San Francisco to Marguerite Kaufmann Olin & Raymond Lanfear. She grew up in Reno & Santa Cruz where she graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1957.

She then went on to graduate from Hartnell College in Salinas with an AA degree in accounting. While at Hartnell she met her future husband, John Redfern. They married on July 1, 1960, and recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Their earlier years were spent in Capitola, Salinas, Fairfax, and Novato before relocating to Petaluma 47 years ago. During these years they raised two children, Michele & Michael.

Over the years Ruth worked as an account clerk for the county of Santa Cruz Road Dept, several CPA firms and eventually as an office manager for Skoff Trucking in Petaluma. Summers were spent traveling with an RV through much of the western US. After retiring in 1997, she and John spent many years traveling. A South American cruise around the horn from Rio to Santiago Chile inspired them to see more of the world. She greatly enjoyed visiting many countries on the various cruises through the years.

Ruth is survived by her husband John, daughter Michele, son Michael, grandchildren, Emily, Robert, Eleanor, brother Raymond and many nieces & nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her brothers Fred Olin, & Stanley Lanfear, and sisters Ruby Lanfear Mielich & Roberta Lanfear Bacher. A grave side service is planned for Monday August 19, 2024, at noon at the Calvary Cemetery in Petaluma. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations be made to the ALS Association.
