Sairlee "Lee" Henning - "Lee""" Henning """The Hay Lady""" passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010 from complications following a surgery. She is survived by her husband Russell, her former husband Spencer, daughter Roxanne, grandchildren Jason and Nicole and three great-grandchildren, her stepson Andrew, stepdaughters Teresa, Tiffany and grandson Sequoyah.
"" In 2005 Lee married Russ Henning, of a long time Petaluma dairy and ranching family. In 1999 Lee's career took a startling turn for a woman from Manhattan when she became "The Hay Lady""", selling hay, feed and bedding for livestock and household pets.
Lee was always very active and made many friends where ever she went. There was almost nothing she would not do for any of her friends. She was a member of the North Bay Wool Growers Assoc. and enjoyed participating as a commentator for some of the sheep contests at Sonoma County Fair. She especially loved putting animals in need together with people who could help them.
"" A "Celebration of Lee's Life""" will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Petaluma, 939 B. St. Petaluma. Her mother, a prominent Toronto, Canada family, was the owner, editor and publisher of an educational film magazine. Her father was Cecil Morgan Jones, a Welsh merchant mariner and the author of books on diesel engines.
