Sam Miyano

Sam Miyano - Sam Miyano passed away at his Petaluma residence on October 17, 2007. Loving husband of the late Clara Miyano. Devoted father of Cynthia Hayashi and her husband Mark of Petaluma, Steven Miyano and his wife Janice of Campbell, CA, and the late Sandy Miyano. Dear grandfather of Matthew Hayashi and Corey Hayashi both of Petaluma, Sam Miyano of Campbell, CA, and the late Phillip Miyano. Brother of Lily Yamamoto of San Francisco and the late Jim Miyano, Marlene Masada, George Miyano, and Gladys Ozoki. A proud Petaluma native, Sam went to Wilson Elementary School, Petaluma Jr. High and graduated from Petaluma High School in 1941. He enrolled at Santa Rosa Jr. College on a football scholarship but in 1942 he and his family were interned in Colorado until he was drafted into the US Army in 1943. After WWII he came back to Petaluma and became a chicken rancher like his father. In 1960 he began a 21-year career with the Post Office in Petaluma. Sam was an avid fisherman and a long time member of the Sonoma County JACL
