Sandra Elizabeth Compagno-Withers

Our beloved Sandra passed away on February 14, 2018 in Petaluma after a valiant battle with breast cancer. Sandra was born on February 5, 1945 to Sam and Betty Compagno in San Francisco. Sandra received her degree and credential in Education from San Francisco State University and embarked on a 36 year career as the adored Kindergarten and first grade teacher of hundreds of Fairfax children at Central, Deer Park and Manor Schools. With a steadfast loyalty and whole-hearted generosity Sandra dedicated herself to the people and work that she loved. She retired in 2003.

Sandra met the love of her life and soulmate, Lloyd Withers, in 1985. Sandra and Lloyd were married in 1994. She was the proud stepmom of Nicole (Brian) Brown and cherished her role as grandmother to Sophie Anderson.

Sandra was a vibrant, warm and loving person who in retirement enjoyed gardening, traveling, golf, bunco, home in Oregon, board member for Christmas Cheer, volunteering for REST and most of all loved to be with family and friends. Her loyalty and devotion to her friends and giving unconditionally of herself were among her most admired traits. Sandra radiated joy and will be remembered for her compassion and strong will. She is loved and will be dearly missed by all her knew her.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Lloyd, step daughter Nicole Brown (Brian), granddaughter Sophie Anderson, cousins Maryanne Davis (James), Eileen Sosaia (Lee), and many friends. Donations may be made in her name to Forward in San Rafael or Drawbridge in San Rafael. Friends and family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass, Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Parkway, Petaluma.  A Visitation will be held on Wednseday, February 21, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma.  Entombment: Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Italian Cemetery, 540 F Street, Colma, CA.
