Sandra Lynn Stefenoni

SANDRA LYNN STEFENONI passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 3rd after a two year battle with cancer. She was 63 years old. Sandy is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 44 years, Wayne. Loving mother to Stacy Calkin (Ryan) and Andy Stefenoni (Angela) and cherished Nonni to Tanner and Jesse Calkin. Parents Al and Dolores Matteri, brothers Greg (Susie) and Rod (Bonnie) and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her loyal companion Louie, her dog, who brought her much love and comfort. Sandy worked for Albertson's for 20 years and the last 12 years for Jerry's Refrigeration Service. Sandy loved being with her family, having dinners and get-togethers for any occasion she could find on the calendar. Sandy loved our yearly family vacations camping, house boating, and travelling in our 5th wheel RV. Her favorite places were Hawaii, Sedona and camping at Burney Falls. Sandy would always remind us that during the difficult moments in our lives to always… "Follow your heart." Since 1978, Sandy and seven of her closest girlfriends started a birthday club. From fun filled dinners, to yearly trips to Lake Tahoe and Bodega Bay, the "Gossip Girls" remain in a very special place in her heart. Sandy touched the lives of so many people in a positive way and she will be missed dearly by all who knew her. A very special thank you to Dr. Barani, Dr. Gubens, all of the staff at UCSF Medical Center and Hospice of Petaluma for doing more than treating and caring for Sandy. Your compassion, patience, and optimism positively affected her life more than you will ever know. A Celebration of Sandy's Life will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Pkwy., Petaluma. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Sandy's honor to Hospice of Petaluma and the Petaluma Animal Shelter. Family assisted by PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, Petaluma.
