Sara Mello

Sara Mello - Passed away on June 12, 2012 in Rohnert Park. Devoted wife of the late Manuel de Mello. Cherished mother of Maria De Medeiros and Albena Mello both of Rohnert Park. Adored grandmother of Alfredo Manuel De Medeiros and Elizabeth Sara De Medeiros. Beloved great-grandmother of Layla Bea and Ava Sara De Medeiros. Loving sister of Ezaura Roque of Rhode Island and predeceased by seven brothers and one sister of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Sara was born in Falmouth, Massachusetts, but grew up in Sao Miguel, Azores. She married Manuel in the Azores on January 20, 1952 and together they enjoyed 34 years of marriage. Sara and Manuel moved their family to CA in 1954, first settling in Marin County, and for the last 50 years, residing in Sonoma County. As a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Petaluma, she was very devout in her Catholic faith, as well as a member of the Senhor Santo Cristo Society and the Petaluma and Novato Holy Ghost Societies. In her spare time, Sara enjoyed taking walks and gardening. Above all, she loved taking care of her family and friends; they meant the world to her. Sara was a wonderful and caring woman; she will be greatly missed. Friends and family are invited to attend the Visitation, Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Vigil Service at 7:00 PM at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma. Donations may be made to Hospice in memory of Sara.
