SCOTT ROBERT LAWSON passed away on Dec. 20, 2013 at his home in Tomales, CA. He was the devoted husband of Kristin Lawson of Tomales and cherished father of Robert Lawson of Tomales. He is also survived by older bothers Craig Lawson of Ventura, CA., Steve Lawson of Nampa, ID., and Paul Lawson of Corvallis, OR., and their families.
Scott was born in New York City, NY on Sept. 27, 1953. At the age of 3, the family moved to Southern CA eventually settling in N. Hollywood. After graduating from N. Hollywood High, Scott pursued his love of cars and motorcycles by working for an auto body repair shop and a motorcycle dealership. After that he began working in the film industry for Technicolor. While visiting his older brothers in Tomales, he met the love of his life working behind the counter at Diekmann General Store. Scott and Kristin were married in 1978 and moved to Southern CA for 2 years before returning to Tomales in 1980. Scott ran the Tomales Chevron gas station at lower town for several years before being hired by Shoreline Unified School District as a bus driver/groundskeeper where he worked for 20 years.
Scott was a huge presence in the community. He was a member of the Tomales Volunteer Fire Company and served on the Tomales Town Hall Board. He could often be seen driving his lovingly restored '58 Porsche on West Marin's country roads. Scott also loved his dogs and playing golf with family and friends.
Above all though, he loved his family. His sense of humor and distinctive laugh, so familiar to friends and neighbors, will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held January 25, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at the Tomales Town Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tomales Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 154, Tomales, CA 94971, the Tomales Town Hall, PO Box 251, Tomales, CA 94971, or Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St., Petaluma, CA 94952.
