SCOTT G. RODGERS passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2015 in Antioch. Devoted and loving "Papa" of Alexandra Rodgers and Taylor Rodgers. Beloved son of the late Lyda and Gilbert E. "Butch" Rodgers. Cherished brother of Martin D. "Buzz" Rodgers (Adrienne), Carrol Black (Bob), and Jon Rodgers. Adored uncle of Robb Black (Chris), Scott Black (Lucy), Stacy Haymes (Jasen) and their families, Andrea "Sprout" Rodgers, Erik Rodgers, Austin Rodgers and Graham Rodgers.
Age: 65 years.
Scott grew up in Santa Rosa, and even after living in Antioch for many years, always considered Sonoma County his home. From a young age, he excelled in sports and never gave up his passion for baseball. He was curious and adventurous and loved to learn. He could often be found completing a crossword and never let the toughest puzzles get the best of him. Scott started his career as a funeral director and embalmer with his brother Buzz in Petaluma at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary. Upon moving to the East Bay, he worked at Higgins Chapel for over 25 years. He was dedicated to the families he served, but his true devotion was to his twin daughters, Alex and Taylor. They were his life, the apples of his eyes, his reason for living.
He was kind, loving and giving. You knew you could always go to him "for a hot bowl of soup." He worked hard and played hard. Scott lived life to the fullest every day. To know him was to love him, and he holds a special place in our hearts. He will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 4:00 pm at Higgins Chapel, 1310 A St., Antioch. A gathering will be held on Sunday in Petaluma.
