Selma Fishman Cader

SELMA FISHMAN CADER passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on October 16 at her Petaluma home at the age of 91 years. Devoted wife of the late Arthur J. Cader of Petaluma. Loving mother of Bruce and Kris Cader of Santa Rosa, Linda Cader of Berkeley, Gary Cader of Petaluma, and Janice Cader-Thompson and Jerry of Petaluma. Cherished grandmother of Michelle Cader Laney of Sacramento, Haley Dequine (Jon) of Davis, Rebecca Thompson of Petaluma, Olivia Hogya (Shawn) of Petaluma, Brent Cader (Michelle) of Santa Rosa, Arthur "Artie" Cader of Petaluma, Amanda Herring (Vince) of Kelseyville, and Rebecca Trenam (Kevin) of Santa Rosa. Beloved great-grandmother of fourteen and great-great-grandmother of two. Dear sister of the late Ann Weitzman, Sol Fishman, Morris Fishman, and Julius Fishman. Survived by many devoted nieces, nephews, and friends. Born, reared, and educated in Petaluma, Selma was the daughter of Sarah (Krantz) and Sam Fishman who immigrated to Petaluma in 1919 from Poland by way of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Selma graduated from Petaluma High School and then from Munson Business College in San Francisco with a degree in bookkeeping. On July 2, 1949, Selma married Art, the love of her life. Together they raised a family, built a successful egg business, and enjoyed sixty-four years of marriage. Selma relished hard work, flying with her husband, and entertaining family and friends. She was also an active member of B'nai Israel Jewish Center. To the end, Selma expressed great love for her family. Special thanks go to Dr. Wayne Kaiser and his staff, Dr. Saw Aye, Hospice of Petaluma, her loyal hairdressers, and the gals at the Java Hut. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 19, 2015 at 11:00 am at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma, CA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Petaluma or B'nai Israel Jewish Center. Interment: B'nai Israel Cemetery, Petaluma. Funeral Service
