Shadrach Lee Horde - HORDE, SHADRACH LEE" Entered into rest in Santa Rosa, CA, October 30, 2011. Dearly beloved fifty year husband of Gwen Horde of Santa Rosa. Loving father of Toni L. (Lyle Beutler) Horde-Abraham of Santa Rosa, CA and Shawna M. (Rogers) Anderson of Pittsburg, CA. Adored grandfather of Joseph Evans and Step-grandfather of Eugene Anderson. Also survived by his brothers and sister; Joshua Horde of Daly City, CA, Terry Horde of El Sobrante, Shirley Doucette of Sacramento, CA, Jerry Horde of San Francisco, CA, and Glorietta Brown of El Cerrito, CA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A native of Beaumont, TX, age 72 years. Shadrach is preceded in death by his parents; Reverend Ivory L. Horde and Hazel Marie (Sparks) Horde; Step-parents; William Oscar Sparks and Ethel Horde, and one son; DeWayne Horde. Shadrach is a veteran of the U.S.M.C. He was employed as a Pile Driver having supervised the construction of the BART Tube which connects Oakland to San Francisco and is credited as the first man to walk the connection prior to its use. He was instrumental in the construction of the Lake Sonoma Dam, the Santa Rosa Federal Building and the Santa Rosa Plaza. His annual yearly enjoyment of the 4th of July included serving as referee of the Kenwood Pillow Fights. He was the volunteer head Master Gardener in the downtown Santa Rosa Sunflower Community Garden. His memberships included the Carpenters Union Local #34 and Laborers Union Local #751. Aside from his love and devotion to his family, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and community volunteering.
