Sherry Lynn Luther passed away suddenly on December 22, 2025, in Santa Rosa, California, at the age of 74, in the loving arms of her devoted husband, Jerry. Born on March 6, 1951, in Astoria, Oregon, Sherry was the only child of Bozo and Marge Waisanen.
She met the love of her life, Jerry Luther, in 1970 while attending Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. For Jerry, it was love at first sight. Sherry, however, was not so easily convinced, as she was focused on earning her degree and pursuing a career in psychology. Love ultimately won out, and following Jerry’s graduation, the couple moved to California and were married on October 27, 1973.
For the next eight years, Sherry and Jerry lived life to the fullest as a young couple deeply and joyfully in love. Soon after their marriage, they started their own business as Clover Milk distributors. Five years later, together with Jerry’s brother Tom, they purchased Wild Oak Dairy in Occidental—a business that continues to prosper today under the leadership of their sons. While Tom and Jerry were the muscle behind the operation, it was Sherry’s intelligence, insight, and steady guidance that truly drove the company’s growth and success. With her sharp wit, wisdom, and genuine love of people, Sherry touched the lives of everyone she met. She embraced motherhood wholeheartedly, finding her true purpose with the birth of her first son, Matthew, in 1981, followed by her second son, Ross, in 1983. A devoted and encouraging mother, she filled her home with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. Sherry was also a dedicated “team mother” to numerous youth sports teams and was deeply involved in volunteering for school fundraising efforts and community functions.
As her family grew, nothing brought her greater joy than becoming a grandmother. Her six grandchildren were her pride and delight, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Sherry is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Jerry; their sons and daughters-in-law, Matt and Hillary (Smith) Luther, and Ross and Janae (Miller) Luther; and six cherished grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life.
Rather than a formal service, the family will hold a celebration of Sherry’s life at a future date. Please email sherrylynnluthermemorial@gmail.com with your contact information to know more. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor’s favorite organization in support of mental health awareness and services.
