Sheryl Ann Johnson passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2025, in Petaluma, California, at the age of 89. Born on April 28, 1936, in Bessemer, Alabama, Sheryl grew up surrounded by family and the music she loved, especially gospel songs that brought her joy throughout her life.
In 1967, she moved to California to be closer to her beloved brother, James Glen Hopkins (Claire), beginning a new chapter filled with family, friendships, and the vibrant life she built on the West Coast.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 42 years, Norman R. Johnson, whom she often described as “the best thing that ever happened to me.”
She was the loving mother of Rebecca Allen and Victoria Risinger, and dear stepmother to Judi Cole (Steve). Sheryl cherished her role as grandmother to 10 and great-grandmother to 9, finding immense joy in family gatherings, laughter, and sharing her delicious home cooking and desserts. She was an avid card player and loved time spent in the company of those she held dear. Sheryl will be deeply missed.
