Shirley Marie (Hayden) Oertel

SHIRLEY MARIE (HAYDEN) OERTEL passed away on July 25, 2017 in Santa Rosa at the age of 81 years.  Devoted wife of the late Robert Oertel.  Adored mother of Russell Oertel (Esther), Susan Oertel, and Julie Traverso (Tony).  Cherished grandmother of Robert Oertel (Samantha), William Oertel, Joseph Reichel, and Jack Reichel.  Beloved great-grandmother of Lilybelle Oertel.  Loving sister of Mark Hayden (Carolyn).  Survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Shirley was a native Petaluman.  She received her BA from San Jose State.  On June 30, 1957, she married the love of her life, Bob, at the newly formed United Church of Christ.  They raised three children and enjoyed over 57 years of marriage.  Shirley was first and foremost a wife and mother.  She valued her family and her church.

Friends and family are invited to attend the Memorial Service, Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the United Church of Christ, 825 Middlefield Dr., Petaluma, CA 94952.  Memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Christ.  Private Inurnment.
