Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Shirley Evelyn Kuck, passed away March 28,2021 at the beautiful age of 91. She was born in Santa Rosa on January 13, 1930 and was a lifelong resident of Petaluma.
Shirley was the widow of Alfred (Al) Kuck, who passed in 2015. They were high school sweethearts, graduated from Petaluma High, Class of 1947. They were married in 1949 – 65 years in love.
Lovingly survived by Children: Alfred L. Kuck and wife Pamela; Debbie Grove and husband Bob; Linda Ladeck and husband Steve. Grandchildren: Erin Hoskins (Brett), Chrissy Klessig (Lance), Caitlin Kuck; Bethany Deniz (Eddy), Jordan Grove; Tyler Stevenson, Stephen Ladeck (Cary), Michael Ladeck. Great grandchildren: Delilah and Camille Hoskins, Elijah, Liam, Adalynn, Grayson, and Verona Klessig, Ava and Parker Deniz, Lincoln Ladeck. Predeceased by sister Fran Popp and brother Howard Hooper; mother Christine Fritsch and father Howard E. Hooper. Our profound thanks to our beloved Fi who took loving care of Mom for the last year.
“I’ve been raised the 4-H way!” This phrase always makes us laugh – our mom always had us kids start our 4-H record book stories with some catchy (in her opinion!) phrase. But Shirley loved her life as a 4-H leader, sideline showring coach and all round beloved fair mother. She taught so many kids to sew!
Shirley was a housewife and so much more – she was the co-owner with Al of Al Kuck Livestock, for over 65 years. They were a team. They spent their entire married life on the ranch and had so many wonderful times with friends and family there. The neighborhood had some fun parties! It was truly a great life.
She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Petaluma.
Shirley was loved by so many – her family, friends, neighbors, fellow church goers, and her kids’ friends. So many of our friends considered Shirley to be their second mom. She loved each and every one of you all.
Visitation will be Friday, April 2 from 11am-5pm at Parent Sorensen Mortuary. Private family services will be held.
Memorial donations in Shirley’s honor may be made to Youth Ag and Leadership Foundation of Sonoma County, or to the charity of your choice.
