Shirley Alice (Morgan) Calmer

Passed away at her home in Petaluma on January 4, 2017 in loving care of her children.  She was born Sept. 27, 1941 in San Rafael, CA and grew up mainly in Petaluma.  She is survived by her children Vicki (Gordon) Breen, Stacey (Ted) Barger, Ken (Tracy) Calmer and her six grandchildren Garrett, Nathan, Vanessa, Kenny, Mackenzie, and Alex.  Shirley spent more than 40 years working her way up to office manager at New York Life Insurance Company in Santa Rosa while raising her children in Petaluma.  She was an avid sports fan, reader, and a lover of the Olympics.  Her real love was watching her grandchildren grow into teenagers and being present in their lives. She was a quiet, gentle, independent woman who was generous, sweet and quick to laugh.  She was a friend to everyone and will be missed by all.  A celebration of life service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, January 21 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 4595 Snyder Lane, Rohnert Park CA 94928. Donations in her honor, in lieu of flowers, can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Hospice of Petaluma.
