Silvio J. Piccinotti - Age 100, died April 19, 2009 at Petaluma Valley Hospital, following a lengthy recovery and rehabilitation from injuries sustained as a result of having been struck, as a pedestrian, by a motor vehicle. During this time he was treated at Petaluma Care and Rehabilitation to whose staff he is profoundly grateful for their exceptional care.
He was predeceased by wife, Alice Kuhnle Piccinotti, in 1983; brothers, Angelo, Romildo, Americo and Victor and by sisters Leodina Weertz and Corina Balli.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Vernon S. and Marilyn J. Piccinotti of Petaluma, grandson Vernon J. Piccinotti of Petaluma and dear and special friend, Ellen Wight, in addition to numerous nephews and nieces.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Vigil Service, Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. Visitation will be at the mortuary from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A private committal service will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family prefers memorials be made to the Redwood Empire Council, Boy Scouts of America, 2240 Professional Drive, Santa Rosa, CA. 95403.
Silvio was born in the Fallon District of Marin County on October 20, 1908. In 1910 the family relocated to the family ranch in the Two Rock Valley. He was the son of Vittorio (Victor) Piccinotti and Maria Fransioli Piccinotti, both natives of Canton Ticino, Switzerland. As a young man he worked on local dairy ranches until buying his own ranch and going into partnership with his brother Americo Piccinotti in 1930. He retired from active business in 1975.
