Stella Marie Almada - Stella Almada joined her husband, Joaquin Almada in heaven on July 21, 2008. Cherished mother of JoAnn Lockhart (Bill), Charlene Shaw, Carol Janakes (Jim), and David Almada (Ann). Beloved grandmother of Chris Hershwitzky (Cheri), Jennifer Reid (Dan), and Joseph Janakes (Racheal). Loving great-grandmother of Marcus Hershwitzky, Rebecca Reid, Caleb, Braden, and Ashby Janakes. Dear sister-in-law of Margaret Tassio and Bernice Almada. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 3:00 p.m. at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Parkway, Petaluma. Entombment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Petaluma. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity. A native of San Francisco, Stella was born in North Beach to Italian immigrants; Annette and Peter Tassio. She married Joaquin Almada in 1942 and enjoyed 60 plus years of marriage. After his death in 2003 she moved to Sonoma county. Stella struggled with health challenges for many years but always seemed to fight back.
