Stephen Joseph Nowicki

Stephen Joseph Nowicki - Passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Sunday, January 13, 2008 in San Rafael, Ca. He was the beloved husband of Virginia M. Nowicki of Petaluma and former husband of Sylvia Rasmussen of Petaluma, as well as the loving father of Stephen and Maryann Nowicki of Whidbey Island, WA, Mike and Debbie Nowicki of Petaluma and Dennis and Angy Nowicki of Rohnert Park. Step father of Debra Sue Pastryk of Santa Rosa, Mike and Deborah Pastryk of Rohnert Park and Dan Pastryk of Petaluma. Cherished grandfather of Kristen Nowicki, Brent Nowicki, Tyler Nowicki, Riley Nowicki, Natalie Nowicki, Stephen Pastryk, Jason Pastryk, Justin Pastryk, Gregory Pastryk, and Tasha Pastryk. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family was assisted by PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, Petaluma, CA 763-4131. Stephen Nowicki was a native of Pittsburg, PA, served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed at Two Rock Ranch Army Station in Petaluma. He has resided in Petaluma since his discharge from the military. He was well known as a co-owner with his brother- in-law Jim Younger at Petaluma Shoe Repair for 53 years until his retirement in 1999. Stephen was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, where he served as an usher and was instrumental in bringing CYO basketball to Petaluma. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and traveling. Steve was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and SIRS #100 of Petaluma.
