Steven Dennis Monville

May 21, 1961 — June 13, 2016

Steven Dennis Monville, forever in our hearts, departed his earthly journey on June 13, 2016. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 27 years, Kimberly, and their two children, beloved daughter Karina Monville and son-in-law Jeremy Garcia of Geyserville, CA, along with his granddaughter, Kaylee Garcia, and beloved son Kyle Monville of Santa Rosa, CA. Steve is also survived by his father, Floyd Monville of Bay City, MI, and his brothers Michael Monville of Petaluma, CA, Christopher Monville of Bay City, MI, and his sisters Lori Joseph (Vince) of Petaluma, CA and Kimberly Clifford of Slough, England. He is also survived by his mother-in law Marilyn Foster (Mark) of Calpella, CA and father-in-law William Reis of Minturn, CO, sister-in-law Starlene Bray (Luke) of Dotsero, CO, Jesse Reis of Dotsero, CO, and Christopher Fenk of Healdsburg, CA. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also mourn his passing. He is preceded in death by his mother, Maureen New and his nephew, Scott Hackman. Steve grew up in Petaluma and was a 1980 graduate of Casa Grande High school. His passion was auto shop and working on cars, dirt bikes and quads. He worked as a mechanic until moving to the Sonoma County Water Agency as a lead water systems mechanic from 1984 to 2011. It was during that time he began his battle with melanoma. He fought day in and day out to beat cancer and the associated depression, accepting many early trial chemotherapy medications. Considered a medical miracle, he was honored at the Melanoma Research Foundation in 2014. Steve loved spending time with Kim watching Karina and Kyle race motocross. He also enjoyed boating and just hanging with friends and family. All will remember Steve as one of those people you wanted to be around. He has left a hole in our hearts.
