Susan P. "Suzy" Melvin

SUSAN P. "SUZY" MELVIN passed away on February 7, 2016 in Santa Rosa at the age of 74 years. Devoted wife of the late Paul Melvin. Survived by numerous friends. Suzy was born in Sacramento, but reared and educated in San Francisco. She worked as a legal secretary for 25 years for a law firm in Santa Rosa. Suzy was devoted to the care and protection of animals. She gave freely of her time to the Rohnert Park Animal Shelter where she created and funded the Silver Paws program which provides veterinary care for the pets of seniors who could otherwise not afford it. She was also committed to finding shelter for feral cats. For her dedication to animals, Suzy was awarded the Red Cross Real Heroes award for animals in 2010. She was an amazing woman and the best friend anyone could ask for; she will be greatly missed. Private services were held. Memorial contributions may be made to an animal charity of your choice. Private Interment: Cypress Hill Memorial Park, Petaluma.
