Sylvia Louise Rasmussen

December 1, 1927 — March 29, 2018

A native to Petaluma, Sylvia was born to Thomas and Margaret Younger.

She had four siblings: Lola Malone, Marie Younger, Eva Peterson and is survived by her brother Jim Younger of Petaluma.  She married Steve Nowicki and had three sons: Stephen (Maryann) Nowicki of Oak Harbor, WA., Michael (Deborah) Nowicki of Petaluma and Dennis (Angela) Nowicki of Rohnert Park.

She dearly loved her daughters in law.

Sylvia leaves behind five grandchildren: Kristen (Kurt) Pfeifer of Seattle, WA., Brent Nowicki of Santa Rosa, Tyler (Minnie) Nowicki of Foster City, Riley Nowicki (Susie) of Johnson Creek, WI, Natalie (Brian) McLaughlin of San Diego, and two great granddaughters, Cala Pfeifer of Seattle, WA and Leah Nowicki of Foster City.

She was employed as a nurse at Santa Rosa Community Hospital for 25 years.

In 1980 she wed Wenzel Rasmussen of Pacifica, CA and traveled to many countries, often taking along her grandchildren.  Her favorite trips were to Antarctica and China.

The family wishes to thank the caring and professional staff at Springfield Place Assisted Living in Petaluma and Hospice of Petaluma.

Sylvia supported the Petaluma Animal Shelter and Saint Jude's Children Research Hospital.  Family members suggest that donations can be sent to those non-profits as well as Hospice of Petaluma.

Her immediate family had a private service at Parent-Sorensen Funeral Home on April 03, 2018.
