Takeshi "Tak" Kameoka - Takeshi Kameoka died at the age of 97 on September 9 while working at his farm. Devoted husband of Yukino Kameoka. Loving Father of Mary Peebles (Patrick) of Roeland Park KS, George Kameoka (Kathleen) of Petaluma, Kathleen Terusaki (Steven) of Albany CA, Jennie Kameoka-Yu (George) of Petaluma, Carolyn Kameoka of Petaluma, and the late Martha Kameoka. Grandfather of Brian Peebles Kameoka, Heather Woodall (Stephen), Cora Kameoka-Ozier (Stevin), Alan and Kevin Terusaki, and Allyson Kameoka-Yu. Great-grandfather of Tenli and Chase Woodall.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday September 22 at 3 p. m. at Enmanji Buddhist Temple , 1200 Hwy. 116 S., Sebastopol CA. Private interment at Cypress Hill Memorial Park, Petaluma. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Enmanji Buddhist Temple Building Fund or the Sonoma County JACL Memorial Scholarship Fund in his memory.
Born March 16, 1915 in Watsonville, Mr. Kameoka's father, Buichi Kameoka, died in the flu epidemic of 1919-20 and his mother, Ei Sugimoto Kameoka, took him to Japan, from which he returned alone in 1928. He worked on a farm with relatives in Salinas, continued his education, and eventually graduated from Santa Rosa High School. He married Yukino Takaoka in 1940. They lived at Pt. Reyes until they were incarcerated at Amache Relocation Camp in Granada, Colorado. They returned to California in 1945, when they bought a 15-acre farm on Middle Two Rock Road, where they raised vegetables.
