DREWS, VERYL MARIE - Entered into rest in Santa Rosa, CA, following a short illness on July 19, 2013. Dearly beloved wife of sixty-six years to Frank Drews of Santa Rosa; Loving mother of Mike (LouAnn) Drews of Carson City, NV, Karen (Jim) Chisholm of Petaluma, CA, Dave (Diane) Drews of Novato, CA and Kevin (Julie) Drews of San Mateo, CA. Adored grandmother of Matt, Brian and Lisa Chisholm, Carson, Casey, Cody and Catherine Drews, Christina and Danielle Drews, Cameron, Tyler and Erik Drews. Cherished great grandmother of Mason and McKenzie, Lily, Haley and Taylor Drews. Also survived by her brother; Ken Pitto of Santa Rosa and her sister-in-law, Carol Drews, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A native of San Francisco, CA, age 87 years. Veryl is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Paul Drews and sister-in-law, Carole Pitto. Raised in San Francisco, Veryl completed Galileo High School and went on to the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. A life-long homemaker, she was a member of the Star of the Valley Women's Club, St. Isabella's Women's Club and the Blessed Sacrament Women's Club. She volunteered for twenty-five years at Nazareth House in Marin, volunteered at Sutter Hospice and the Sonoma Developmental Center for eighteen years. She enjoyed playing the piano, as well as teaching piano lessons. She loved playing golf, cooking, traveling, eating and shopping, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family. She looked forward to all family gatherings and never wanted to miss any occasions, large or small.
Family and friends are invited to meet and attend the Funeral Mass on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Star of the Valley Catholic Church (545 White Oak Drive, Santa Rosa, CA, 95409). Private inurnment; Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael, CA. As an expression of sympathy, the family prefers memorial contributions in Veryl's name be directed to Hanna Boys Center (P.O. Box 100, Sonoma, CA, 95476), Camp Recreation (2110 Broadway, Sacramento, CA, 95818), or the charity of the donor's choice.
