Victoria Jeannette Scharer

Passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 in Stanford, CA, beloved wife for 55 years of John Scharer. Loving mother of Paula (Keith) Verke of Petaluma and Jean Ann (Matt) Krupp of Cotati. Adored grandmother of Chris Verke, Megan (Tim) Sandwina, Kellie Verke, Will Krupp and Kyle Krupp. Cherished great grandmother of Braden Sandwina. Beloved sister of Jim (Nita) Saitone of Santa Rosa. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A native of Santa Rosa, age 78, Vicki was born in Santa Rosa, where she was reared and educated, graduating from Santa Rosa High School, Santa Rosa Junior College and attended San Francisco State. She married John Scharer on August 15, 1958. She was known by her family for her devotion to her family, enjoying the grandchildren's activities and sports, her love of animals, cooking, golf, gardening and camping. Vickie was a member of Petaluma Golf and Country Club, as well as a founding member of the Adobe Creek Ladies Golf Club and Rooster Run Ladies Golf. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. The Vigil Service will be at 7:00 pm Thursday at Parent-Sorensen. Family and friends are also invited to attend the Funeral Mass, Friday, March 7, 2014 at 9:30 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma. Private entombment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Santa Rosa, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family prefer memorials be made to the Petaluma Animal Shelter.
