Victorio Angelo Torchio

July 2, 1921 — December 16, 2016

Entered into rest December 16, 2016 in Santa Rosa, CA. Loving father of Victor J. and Enrico "Henry" Torchio. Also survived by numerous long distance relatives, nieces and nephews. A native of Piemonte, D'Asti, Italy, he resided in Revigliasco and San Damiano. Victorio is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years, the late Josephine Margaret "Pina" Torchio (nee Novelli), his parents; Luigi and Giulia Torchio, and sister, Santina Oliver. Victorio immigrated at the age of six with his parents and sister to San Francisco in 1927 processing through Paris Island before moving to San Francisco. He attended Everett High School and received his High School Diploma from Mission High School. He was a WWII Veteran, entering the service in 1942, serving with the 8th Army-Air Force in London, England as an Airplane Armorer for B-17's. Victorio met his future Bride, Josephine, in London, England, who would eventually become his G.I. Bride. They were married on November 30, 1946 at St. Peter and Paul's Church in San Francisco. They eventually moved to Healdsburg CA and finally to Santa Rosa. Victorio worked for the Mare Island Naval Shipyards as a Shipfitter and Custodis-Ecodyne (Formerly Flour Products) then, as a Maintenance Carpenter, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Italian-American Club, ICF Branch 198 and Lifetime Member of both the VFW Post 1844 and the 388th Bombardment Group "H" Association. Victorio enjoyed Life, Family, Friends, Sports, especially the San Francisco Giants and the 49er's. His biggest passions were his great stories of his life of memories and Salmon and Steelhead Fishing on the Klammath River with his life-long & dear friends, Duane and Nancy Betry. Family and friends are invited to attend a Chapel Liturgy Service followed by Military Honor's on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in Madelyne's Chapel at Calvary Catholic Cemetery (2930 Bennett Valley Road, Santa Rosa, Ca, 95404). Entombment will follow in St. Mark Mausoleum. LAFFERTY & SMITH COLONIAL CHAPEL (4321 Sonoma Highway, Santa Rosa, CA, 95409) will provide Visitation Hours on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Vigil/Rosary Service commencing at 7:00 PM in the main chapel. The family prefers memorial contribution's in Victorio's honor be made to the VFW Lodge 1844, in care of 78 Creek Court, Cotati, CA, 94931. Visitation
