Vincent Philipp

Vincent Philipp - Passed away Friday, March 21, 2008 in Santa Rosa. Devoted husband of Gertrude Philipp of Petaluma. Cherished father of Susan Gordon (Dan) of Mad River, Terry Philipp (Tammy) of Forestville, and Michael Philipp (Vivian) of San Jose. Beloved grandfather of four and great-grandfather of four. Loving brother-in-law of Gottfried Stonitsch and Gretchen Lichau. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Age: 94 years. A Member of: SIRS and Teamsters Union. A Native of: Arnstadt, Germany. Vince was reared in Hydesville, graduated high school in Fortuna, and moved to Sonoma County in 1936. He attended Luther Burbank Business School where he met his beloved Gertrude. In 1940 they married and together they enjoyed 68 years of marriage. During WWII, he enlisted in the US Armed Forces and served from 1943 to 1946 in the US Army. Vince worked as an assistant office manager at Petaluma Poultry Producers. After his retirement in 1968, he worked as a custodian for 10 years at La Tercera Elementary School, retiring for the second time in 1978.
