Violet Atlena "Adeline" Tufts

Born on July 12, 1924, Violet passed away at the age of 97 having enjoyed a long and full life. The daughter of Alvin W. and Jessie Evelyn Patocchi, Violet was raised on a 350-acre dairy ranch nestled among the rolling foothills of Petaluma, California. Violet graduated from Petaluma High School and accepted her first job offer as a telephone operator. However, she soon met Captain George Justman--a tall, dashing United Airline pilot and World War II veteran who swept her off her feet with a proposal of marriage. They tied the knot in 1946 and became the parents of 2 sons, Bill (now deceased), and Bob Justman who resides in Cotati, California. Together, George and Violet built Petaluma Sky Ranch Airport and received FAA approval as a flight school in 1948. The original airport is now known as the Petaluma Municipal Airport located on 601 Sky Ranch Drive. Eighteen years later, Violet decided to tackle a new and different challenge. She became a successful real estate agent for the next 25 years. Because of her excellent reputation and dedication to her clients, Violet developed life-long friendships that lasted far beyond the sale of a home. Ballroom dancing, sport fishing, and tasty home cooking were just a few of her many talents. Many years passed before discovering that “Grandma Vi” also had a pilots license. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, doting grandmother, and cherished friend. Violet is survived by son Robert; grandson Dane; nephew David Silacci, and greatly missed by daughter-in-law Honey. Preceded in death by spouses George Justman, Mit Tufts; sisters June Silacci, Doris Muzinich; youngest son Bill, and niece Arlyn Silacci. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary, 850 Keokuk Street, Petaluma, CA 94952. Pastor Matt Luedecke will officiate the service.
