Vital De Souza Brazil - Vital gently entered the light of the Holy Spirit on March 27 at 5:33 pm in Santa Rosa. Surrounded by loving family members in his last hours, he seemed truly at peace with transitioning into peace with God. He is survived by devoted and loving children, Margaret Brazil Carlsen, Darlene Hawley, Victor Brazil Jr., and Johnny Brazil Sr. Grandchildren include Robert, Suzie, and Jackie Carlsen; Amy and Alex Brazil; Johnny Jr., Jessica, Cassey and Cody Brazil. Brother of Maria Bettencourt, Brites Silveira, and the late Manuel Brazil and Emily Escobar. Born in St. Jorge, Azores, Portugal on Jan. 1, 1927 to parents John Brazil and Maria Bettencourt, Vital immigrated to northern CA in the 1950s. He was a dairyman for many years, was married and later raised 4 children as a single father. He met and married Conceicao Brazil and they spent 22 years together. Vital always had a smile and a joke ready for friends and family. He loved fishing, crabbing, and training horses. He was adored by his children and grandchildren. He belonged to St. Vincent's, Holy Ghost Society, and Sisters of the Carmelites.
