TANNEHILL, Wallace M. passed over on October 29th, 2015, to join his father William, his mother, Marjorie, and his sisters, Harriet, Charlene, and Carol. He leaves his two brothers, Harold (Sherri Dawn) and Arthur (Diana), his beloved Aunt Kay, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Wally was a deeply devoted son, big brother, Uncle, nephew and friend. He also leaves behind his much loved dog, "Duke", who was his constant companion. He was deeply loved by them all, for his generosity knew no limits. He was always there for his family, and valued family, above all else.
Wally was 66 years of age, and filled those years with love, family, friends, as well as sports. He was a member of a Pioneer Petaluma Family, the Petersen's, who arrived in Petaluma in the later part of the 1800's. Wally was an Alumni of the very first class to graduate from the new, Cinnabar School, starting his education at the older Cinnabar School. He was a Letterman in High School, in both Football, and Baseball, receiving many awards for excellence. Softball, bowling, golfing, horse races, was all activities that he enjoyed, immensely, all his life. Wally was also an avid water skier, taking his ski boat, the "Green Weenie", to Lake Berryessa, where he would spend many weekends with his friends, enjoying the hot, summer weather. He played a mean game of "Texas Hold ‘Em", and would more often than not, walk away a winner.
His lifelong career was in the Grocery Industry, starting out as a Box Boy at Carl's Market , then owning his own distribution business of honey, granola, and other health foods, and finally as a Manager, in various locations. Countless friends were made during his years in the grocery business, with most staying close and in touch, throughout his life.
Wally was a member of the Montgomery Village Lion's Club, serving in many positions, achieving the status and rank of President. He organized the annual and popular Lion's Club Golf Tournament, which raised funds for various charities. Wally transferred his membership to the Cotati Lion's Club, where his brother, Arthur serves, as the current President.
He loved and enjoyed his friends, very much. If you were fortunate enough to have had Wally in your life, you knew this. Donations in Wally's Memory to your favorite charity, would be most appreciated.
Wally will be placed next to his father, William, at Cypress Hill Cemetery, Petaluma, CA. There will be a private Celebration of Wally's life at a future date.
