Walter John Hallenbarter, Jr.

March 26, 1926 — October 23, 2020

Walter Hallenbarter was born in Petaluma in 1926, he was a third generation Hallenbarter to reside in Petaluma. He lived in Petaluma his entire life. After high school he joined the Army/Air Force, he was a B-17 bubble gunner during WWII. Walter was lucky enough not to leave the United States during his service time. When he returned home he worked at the Petaluma Poultry Producers for close to 30 years then moved on to be a teamster business agent at local 624. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Hallenbarter Sr and Helen (Barry) Hallenbarter. Walter died peacefully in his home with family at his side on Friday morning October 23. He is survived by his wife Eileen Rae (McPherson) Hallenbarter (married 72 ½ years) Son John Hallenbarter and Daughter Linda Hallenbarter Winston, his Brother Stanley Hallenbarter and Sister Jeanne Soares. He has three grandsons Chris (Helen) Butts, James (Karlee) Butts, Stephen (Abby) Butts along with seven great grandchildren Elizabeth, Sylvia, Crystal, Mikailey, Johnathon, Michael and Zachary whom he loved very much. Walter loved working outside in his yard and doing home repairs, watching 49er football and NASCAR cup series. When he was younger he enjoyed camping with his family at Richardson’s Grove almost every summer. He also loved spending time with family, talking or playing card games. He will be missed everyday by those who loved him. The family will be holding a private service. Memorial donations may be made to either a cancer fund or a local veterans charities. We would like to thank the Hospice of Petaluma nurses for their caring assistance.
