WARD G. WILSON passed away on September 8, 2015 in Petaluma at the age of 86 years after a long illness. Devoted husband of the late Elaine Wilson. Cherished father of Patricia L. Wilson of Petaluma, Ward M. Wilson of Sonoma, and Lucille M. Stone of Vallejo. Beloved grandfather of Rebecca Fisher, Kenneth Stone, Gabriel Wilson, Valerie Hopkins, and Lindsey Caruso. Adored great-grandfather of five and one on the way. Predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. Survived by several nieces, nephews, and faithful feline companions, Tycho and Jasper. Ward was born and raised in Petaluma, graduating from Petaluma High School. In 1948, he enlisted in the US Army, and while stationed in the Marshall Islands, he witnessed nuclear bomb tests. Upon discharge, he enrolled at SRJC where he received his degree in chemistry. For 40 years, he worked as a chemical technician, finally retiring in 1997 from Zeneca. In his spare time, Ward enjoyed hiking, gardening and photography. He especially loved taking pictures of cloud formations and ocean scenes. He had a love for the universe and enjoyed studying astronomy. Ward enjoyed life and its simple pleasures and never sweat the small stuff. He was a kind, gentle, and unassuming man who never said a bad word about anyone. He will be greatly missed. At his request, no services were held.
