Warren Howard Coffin

June 30, 1928 — June 1, 2025

Penngrove, California

Warren Howard Coffin, a U.S. Air Force veteran, tradesman, real estate broker, and beloved family man, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 1, 2025, just one month shy of his 97th birthday. Warren was born in Denver, Colorado, to William Howard Coffin and Anina Grace Kaffer. He grew up alongside his sister Beverly and attended St. Francis Catholic School and South Denver High School. After moving with his family to Portland, Oregon, he completed his education at Franklin High School. At the young age of 14, Warren bravely set out on his own, working various jobs across Oregon and building a life through hard work and determination. He worked in lumber mills, on dairy farms, and eventually at Willamette Iron and Steel during WWII, all while attending Commerce High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1948, serving proudly and later joining the Armed Services Police in the San Francisco Bay Area. While stationed at Hamilton Air Force Base, he met the love of his life, Dina Traverso. They were married on June 16, 1951, and went on to build a life rooted in love, family, and shared purpose. After his honorable discharge in 1952, Warren and Dina settled in Marin County and later in Petaluma, where they built their home together. He worked in engineering for H. Koch & Sons and earned his real estate broker’s license, enjoying a second career with Frank Howard Allen and Bundesen Realty. Warren had many passions. He loved caring for his racing pigeons, tending to his garden, riding his tractor, playing music, and reading and reciting poetry. One of his greatest joys was fishing on his commercial fishing boat, Dina Marie, lovingly named after his wife. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who will remember him for his strength, kindness, and unwavering love. A private gravesite service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Warren’s memory to a veterans’ organization of your choice.
