Wendell Holder - Petaluma resident Wendell L. Holder died on Saturday, September 22, 2007.
Born in Hoyt, Oklahoma, on September 30, 1934, Mr. Holder was the eldest son of seven children born to Rolf and Ora (Gideon) Holder. Jeanette Eddy, whom he married in 1955, preceded him in death.
Mr. Holder is survived by his wife Mary (Reynolds); his daughters Sheryl (Vanderburg) Holder and Cathy Ball, his son Scott Holder, and daughter-in-law Patricia. A third daughter, Michelle, age one, died in 1963. His grandchildren are Brett Vanderburg and Kelli Vanderburg; Julie (Ball) Meyer; and Miranda Holder and Brittany Holder.
Also surviving are Maryâ??s four children and their spouses: Kevin Reynolds and wife Jeanette, Tim Reynolds and wife Theresa, Laurie Gibson and husband Mike, and Sue Rogers. Their children are Jeff, Steven, and Nicholas Reynolds; Tabitha and Tiffany Reynolds; Michael and Joshua Gibson; and Anthony Custer and Kris Rogers.
Surviving siblings of Mr. Holder are Ramona Allen, Nadine Read, Elaine Bigger, Reginald Holder, and James Mitchell Holder. His sister Helen Jean Wyatt is deceased.
Retired from Interbay Lumber Company of Marin, Mr. Holder enjoyed many pastimes. As a member of Choctaw Nation, he kept in touch with Choctaw news and events throughout Oklahoma. He took nearly annual driving trips to visit family and friends from the Midwest to the East Coast; he was a passionate auto enthusiast who not only enjoyed watching televised and live car races of all kinds, but who throughout his adult years, owned more than 60 cars. In recent years, he volunteered numerous hours per week maintaining the buildings and grounds at Eastside Baptist.
Mr. Holder will be remembered for his generosity and willingness to help others whenever he could. To his children and grandchildren, he demonstrated a life of integrity through his strong work ethic and compassionate heart. It is only in knowing he peacefully went to be with the Lord that his leaving is made bearable.
A funeral service and time of remembrance will take place at Eastside Baptist Church in Petaluma on Tuesday, September 25,2007 at 2:00 pm. Interment at Cypress Hill Memorial Park The family was served by Parent-Sorensen Mortuary & Crematory, Petaluma. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial contributions be made to the Garden Memorial Fund, 200 Ely Blvd., Petaluma, CA., 94952
