William Donald "Bill" Barboni

William Donald "Bill" Barboni, 95, lifelong resident of Sonoma and Marin Counties and a member of a multi-generation Marin County ranching family passed away peacefully in his sleep July 26. Bill was born in Penngrove on January 20, 1921. He was the son of the late Charles and Effie Soldati Barboni. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years Rosemarie Lando; children Charles, Stephanie Seppa (the late Dean), Bonita Ghisletta (Harold), William II, and Julianne Moore (John). Eight grandchildren - Ben (Stefanie), Giavanna and Maria Ghisletta; Elisa and Cristin Seppa; Lauren, Sean and Alison Moore. Great grandchildren Kyle, Brett, Roman and Georgia. Also survived by his sister Kathleen Panfiglio and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Immediately after graduating from Petaluma High School in 1939 he began a partnership with his father dairying in Hicks Valley. Bill was proud of his accomplishments in the dairy industry, always on the cutting edge of technology. He was one of the first dairymen in the area to install an automatic feeding system; the second in California to build a herringbone milking parlor. He was an avid hunter and horseman and enjoyed many years with his friends at the Barboni Family Umbriago Deer Club. He was a trustee for the Lincoln School District for over thirty years and was instrumental in keeping the one room schools in Marin County open. Bill was active in many organizations throughout his life including the Sonoma County Trail Blazers, Native Sons of the Golden West (71 years), Petaluma Elks Lodge (76 years), past director of the Marin County Farm Bureau, Marin County Resource Conservation District, United Dairymen, Dairy Employers' Association of California and past President of the Sonoma Marin Swiss Club. At the request of the deceased, there will be a private funeral service for the family. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
