William I. "Bill" Haynes - Passed away in Petaluma on August 28, 2012 at the age of 89 years. Devoted husband for 69 years to Cleo Haynes of Petaluma. Loving father of Frank (Patty) Haynes and Kurt (Laine) Haynes, grandfather of Lindsay (Kylee), Miles, Kirsten and Keisha Haynes, Erin Kleinfeld and great-grandfather of Eliza Haynes all of Petaluma. Survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the Nicasio Parlor Native Sons of the Golden West, Petaluma SIRS, Danish Brotherhood, and Petaluma Elks Club.
A â??Celebration of Billâ??sâ?? life will be held on Monday, September 3, 2012 at 2pm at the home of Patty and Frank Haynes. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Petaluma Educational Foundation, 200 Douglas St., Petaluma, CA 94952. Bill was born in Berkeley, CA to Mabel and Willis Haynes. He joined the US Army during WWII and was stationed at the Presidio. An accomplished dancer, he frequented the ballrooms of San Francisco and Oakland, where he met his wife Cleo, who shared his love of dancing. They were married in San Francisco and he went on to serve the rest of the war at Pearl Harbor. After the war they moved to Petaluma, where he enjoyed the Petaluma Leghorn football games. He continued to pursue his love of music and dancing, giving dance lessons as an avocation and performing in a barbershop quartet, the â??Roostairsâ??.
