William Charles Maestretti

William "Bill" Maestretti of Petaluma, CA. passed away peacefully January 8, 2016, at Windsor Care Center in Petaluma, at the age of 84. He was the son of the late Peter and Isolena (Beretta) Maestretti. He is survived by his son, Bill Maestretti (Tonya) of Boise, Idaho; daughter, Michelle Yatsik (Clark) of Kodiak, Alaska; son, Forrest Maestretti (Staci) of Petaluma, California; his eight grandchildren, Mara, Kaia, Madison, Logan, Tegan, Morgan, Kaden, Wyatt; his sister, LaVerne Noble (Dave, deceased), brother, James Maestretti (Linda), and a great number of nieces and nephews. Bill started working at a very young age on his family's dairy ranch in Chileno Valley. He loved the ranch life and work, which he continued until his family sold the dairy business. He received his GED from Petaluma High. Bill attended basic training at Fort Ord, from August 1-November 30, 1953. He served in the active army for one year and three years in the reserves. Bill proudly served in the Korean War. He married Connie McHenry, June 28, 1958-1973. Bill married Karen Foster, December 20, 1974-1988. He drove truck for Jet Transportation and Ghilotti Brothers for approximately 29 years. Bill started, owned, and worked at Maestretti and Sons Firewood. Known as a hard worker, he continued this until only a few months ago. Bill enjoyed his large family, was a devoted 49ers fan, lover of 7-11 coffee, and an abundant collector. He was a kind, simple person who took pleasure in his daily routine, and the social interactions it included. He will be remembered as a generous, caring cowboy, and deeply missed by all that knew him. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Bill's life, January 29, 2016 at 11 A.M. at PARENT-SORENSON MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St. Petaluma. Viewing from 8:30 A.M. to service time.
