William Robertson

October 18, 1916 — April 22, 2012

William "Bill""" Washington"" Robertson - Loving husband of the late Hazel Robertson, slipped away peacefully to be with her on April 22, 2012. Bill was born into an enterprising family of early (1852) Sonoma County settlers to William "Jean""" & Zella (Welling) Robertson on October 18, 1916, on a ranch near Tomales. In his early years, Bill fur trapped in the Russian Gulch area and commercial fished with his father. He and his father built many buildings in western Sonoma County and Bill was partners with his sister Jeanne in a store in Valley Ford. It was at that store that he met Hazel. They married on May 18, 1940, and settled on Bill's ranch north of Bodega Bay, where they ran a dairy herd for a number of years. They then turned to raising sheep and were operating five ranches before they retired in 1965. "" Family and friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Friday, April 27 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary, 301 S. Main St., Sebastopol, 829-5433. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at the mortuary, followed by burial at Sebastopol Memorial Lawn, 7951 Bodega Ave., Sebastopol. Donations in Bill's memory may be made to Sutter VNA & Hospice, 1110 N. Dutton Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95401. They enjoyed their retirement in Sebastopol. Bill loved his family, the outdoors, camping, traveling, hunting, fishing, gold panning, playing pool, gardening, putting puzzles together and sharing his passions with his daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his many friends. He was predeceased by his sisters Rozella Vote and Mary Carroll and is survived by his sister Jeanne Ballatore. Bill was kind and loving and will be greatly missed by his daughters and their husbands Patsy Marcussen (Bob Marcussen), Diane H. Davis (Henry Haberman) and Peggy Wing (Ken Wing); his grandchildren Bob Marcussen, Sheryl Moore (Larry Moore), Steve Best (Xuan Best), Alan Adams and Billy Wing; his great grandchildren Brandan Moore, Shayla Moore, Steven Thomas and Robby Marcussen; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He spent his last few days surrounded by love from family, caregivers and friends.
