William L. Spaletta

May 20, 1922 — September 16, 2014

WILLIAM L. SPALETTA passed away peacefully on September 16, 2014 at home in Petaluma at the age of 92. Devoted husband of the late Theresa Spaletta. Cherished father of Donna San Filippo of Petaluma. Adored father-in-law of the late Jack San Filippo. Beloved brother of Marie Stefenoni, George Spaletta, Ilene Rodgers, Nadine Spaletta all of Petaluma; Josephine Straub of Willits; Louie Spaletta of Los Angeles; and the late Emsley Spaletta and Ralph Spaletta. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was born, reared and educated in Petaluma where he worked on the family dairy ranch. He graduated from Petaluma High School, after which he went to work for Golden Eagle Feed Mill until it closed. He then began working for Hunt & Behrens, where he stayed until his retirement. Bill met and married the love of his life, Theresa, and together they enjoyed over 50 years of marriage. He was one of the original Petaluma Leghorn football players, nicknamed the "Deer." He also enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved to hunt deer, fish, and abalone dive and also playing cards with his family and friends. Bill was a member of Harmony Grove #38, United Ancient Order of Druids; Petaluma Elks Lodge #901; and the Petaluma Outdoorsmen. Bill's family extends a special thank you to his Druid brothers, Jerry, Pete, Don and Charlie, for their kindness, help, and support. At Bill's request, no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St., Petaluma, CA 94952 or the Druids Scholarship Fund, 855 Green Way, Santa Rosa, CA 95404.
