Passed away at home in Penngrove, CA., May 17, 2008, beloved husband for 60 years of Pui Kwan. Loving father of Alvin Lee (Huiok), Benita Yu (Johnny), Carl Lee (Bill),Daisy Lok (Alec) and Elise Yee (Wiley). Cherished grandfather of Captain Mindy Yu(USAF), Michael Yu, Lucas Lee, Leanna Lok, Darren Lok , Patty Lok, Kyle Yee and Garrett Yee. A native of Shiqui, China. Age 92 years. Mr. Lee, a Sonoma County resident for 48 years, was one of the first Chinese Americans to join the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was also noted for starting the first Chinese radio program in San Francisco. Mr. Lee was in the wholesale egg business from 1960 to his retirement in the 1980â??s. He was a member of the Redwood Empire Chinese Association, Petaluma Post 1929 V.F.W. and the Chung Chung Alumni Assoc. Winston Lee was a far-sighted and honorable man who joined the U.S. Navy because of his deep-seated beliefs in freedom and justice. He moved his family to Sonoma County in 1960 because he loved its natural beauty and small town values. Mr. Lee was a successful man in every sense of the word. He had wise insight and sharp intellectual capacity that remained with him until his last moments of life. He was proud that his children and grandchildren inherited his passion for life. Winston was a loving, humble, and generous man who will be deeply mourned by his family and many friends who will never forget the acts of kindness and hospitality that were his daily way of life. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service,Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, Magnolia Ave. and Keokuk St., Petaluma, CA.
