Yolanda Rolando died peacefully in her home on September 14, 2024 surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Mexico and came to the United States in 1928, where her family settled in Almaden Valley, Ca. She was the oldest and last surviving of six children. She graduated from Campbell High in 1942, and shortly thereafter, she moved with her family to San Francisco, where she worked as an iron welder during World War II. There she met her husband of 46 years, Felix "Tony" Rolando. Yolanda moved to Petaluma in 1968. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. James Church, where she volunteered much of her time to church functions including the annual Christmas bazaar where she donated a few of her crocheted afghans. She enjoyed crocheting ornate angels which she often gave as gifts. She enjoyed playing tennis & quick trips to Reno where she would play the penny slots. She enjoyed working in her garden, and reading spiritual books. She had a great sense of humor, and a way of seeing the good in everything and everyone. She was a devoted wife and mother to her three children, Maria, Christopher, and Teresa, and an aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was especially devoted to her daughter, Maria, and was very active in the Down's Syndrome community. She will be remembered for her devotion to God and family. She survived the loss of her husband, Tony, son Christopher, and most recently her daughter, Maria with a strength and faith that was an inspiration to everyone that knew her. If you asked her how she was doing, her response was, Better than yesterday, but not as good as tomorrow! She is survived by her daughter, Teresa and son-in-law, Mark Van Antwerp.
