Yoshio "Yo" Otani

August 29, 1927 — February 14, 2019

Yoshio "Yo" Otani passed away on February 14, 2019 at the age of 91 years in Petaluma.  Devoted husband of Misao Otani of Petaluma.  Cherished father of Maureen “Miko” Otani, Allen Otani (Carol), Candace Otani, and Alvin Otani.  Loving brother of Margaret Kitabayashi, Mary Kunibe, Amy Ohara, Diane Ohara and the late Johnny Otani.  Survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Lifelong Petaluma resident, Yoshio graduated from Petaluma High School.  He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged.  He and his family owned and operated an egg ranch in Petaluma, but he also worked as a diesel mechanic for 35 years.  Yo and Misao were also active members of Enmanji Buddhist Temple in Sebastopol.  A hardworking man, he put his family above all else.  He will be greatly missed.

At the family’s request, private services will be held.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St., Petaluma, CA 94952.  Private Inurnment: Cypress Hill Memorial Park, Petaluma.
